This is Mrs. Schneider’s fourth year teaching Health Science Technology at McNeil High School. She was raised in Garfield Heights, Ohio and attended Kent State University, where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree.

After graduation, Mrs. Schneider worked in a variety of nursing positions, including The Cleveland Clinic, The Children’s Hospital of L.A., Meriter-Madison General Hospital, and College Station Medical Center.

In addition to over 30 years of nursing experience, Mrs. Schneider has been certified to teach Childbirth Classes and earned International Board Certification as a Lactation Consultant. In this capacity she has published several articles in professional journals. She has also taught in a Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Kent State University and in a Nursing Assistant Program at Mohave Community College in Arizona.

After moving to Texas, Mrs. Schneider earned her teaching certification at Sam Houston State University and taught for 4 years at A & M Consolidated High School and one year at Cy-Falls High School. During her career as a Health Science Technology Instructor she has been selected by her peers as “Teacher of the Year” and has earned the “Distinguished Teacher Award.” She has served on the Texas State Textbook Selection Committee and is presently serving on the Texas HSTE Curriculum Writers Committee.  She was also chosen as the Outstanding Health Science Technology Instructor for the State of Texas in 2008.

Mrs. Schneider is an active HOSA advisor and has served as Conference Chairperson for both Area and State HOSA competitions.  She has also accompanied students to Area, State, and National competitions.  Three of her students placed first in the Nation in 2007 and one in 2008.  This year she was also elected to the Texas HOSA Board of Directors.

Mrs. Schneider is married, the mother of two, and resides with her family in Round Rock.
