Mrs. Slavnic received her Masters of Fine Arts in Film and Video Production from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to her coming to the States she worked for fifteen years as a producer/writer at the Television Sarajevo, one of the three major networks in former Yugoslavia. She worked in Children’s and Young Adults Educational Programming, and later on in Dramatic Programming. Many of the projects she produced were screened and/or won prestigious awards at national and international festivals.

This is Mrs. Slavnic first year at McNeil High School. Before that she taught film and video production, script writing and film history at the University of North Texas at Denton for four years, the University of Texas-Pan American at Edinburg for a semester and at the University of Texas at Austin during her graduate studies. Her first high school teaching experience was last year at former Johnston High School. Mrs. Slavnic is also an independent filmmaker with interest both in narrative and documentary film.

Mrs. Slavnic has been living in Austin with her family since 1991.
