57911 Engineering Our Digital Future

Prerequisite: Algebra II and one lab science class

This course focuses on the fundamentals of modern engineering and technology in the information and communication age. Students will use a variety of technological devices to design, build and test engineering concepts. Sample units of study include: creating digital music, making digital images, coding information for storage and secrecy, communicating with ones and zeros, and networks from the telegraph to the internet. Projects include student-built digital synthesized musical instruments, real-time video special effects, audio loud-speakers, Internet security products, and basic cell phones. (This course is part of the Infinity Project pre-engineering curriculum.)
